Assessments

At Broadview Psychology, we offer a range of assessment services completed by highly trained registered psychologists and clinicians in training.

You may be seeking an assessment because of learning difficulties, exceptional academic performance, developmental challenges, or because of emotional, behavioural or mental health issues. You may also require an assessment to help with diagnostic clarification and treatment planning, or to better understand yourself or your child/adolescent.

Types of Assessments

We provide a range of assessment services, including:

  • Psychoeducational assessments for children, adolescents, and adults, to identify learning disorders or exceptionalities in memory, cognition, perception, and information processing, to understand students’ learning and development profiles, and to inform appropriate academic recommendations and accommodations.
  • Psychodiagnostic assessments for children, adolescents, and adults to identify mental health, emotional, behavioural, and personality disorders, and to inform treatment planning, academic accommodations, and parenting recommendations.
  • Comprehensive developmental assessments to identify neurodevelopmental disorders, including ADHD and Autism (ASD) and to inform treatment planning, academic accommodations, and parenting recommendations.
  • Brief cognitive assessments to determine whether a child or adolescent meets the giftedness criteria to inform academic placements and recommendations.

More Information

We can also provide school consultation for children and adolescents who have received assessments and treatment with us to support the implementation of interventions and recommendations.

Our assessments involve various tests evaluating cognitive functioning, memory, executive functioning, academics, screening for possible exceptionalities and impairments, and comprehensive mental health and personality measures.

Should you pursue these services with us, the process includes an initial consultation/intake call to determine your assessment needs. Following this intake call, you will be assigned to a clinician. Reviewing relevant records, clinical interviews, and testing sessions are then booked. Assessments are usually completed over two to five assessment sessions. The results are then shared in a feedback session, and a formal report will be provided, which the individual can choose to share with their health or education professionals.
