At Broadview Psychology, we offer a range of assessment services completed by highly trained licensed clinicians and clinicians in training. An assessment may be recommended for several reasons, such as changes in cognitive functioning, learning challenges at school, exceptional performance at school or behavioural and mental health issues; other reasons for an assessment may include when there are treatment intervention difficulties or when an individual or family is looking to understand themselves or their child/youth to a greater degree.
We provide a range of assessment services, including:
- Psychoeducational assessments for children, adolescents, and adults, to support the identification of learning disorders or exceptionalities in memory, cognition, perception, and information processing and to support students’ learning and development profiles so that appropriate recommendations can be shared with teachers and other educators.
- Psychodiagnostic assessments for children, adolescents, and adults to support treatment planning and identification of psychological and psychiatric disorders and personality pathology.
- We also provide targeted comprehensive assessments to help identify ADHD, ASD and FASD, as well as other specific neurodevelopmental disorders.
- Brief cognitive assessments determine whether a child or adolescent meets the giftedness criteria.
We can also provide school consultation for children and adolescents who have received assessments and treatment with us to support the implementation of interventions and recommendations.
Our assessments involve various tests evaluating cognitive functioning, memory, executive functioning, academics, screening for possible exceptionalities and impairments, and comprehensive mental health and personality measures.
Should you pursue these services with us, the process includes an initial consultation/intake call to determine your assessment needs. Following this intake call, you will be assigned to a clinician. Reviewing relevant records, clinical interviews, and testing sessions are then booked. Assessments are usually completed over two to five assessment sessions. The results are then shared in a feedback session, and a formal report will be provided, which the individual can choose to share with their health or education professionals.
