- Work with clients within the age range of your choice (from children to older adults).
- Work with approximately six clients individually using CBT and/or DBT.
- Learn how to provide text/phone coaching.
- Facilitate at least one DBT or CBT group.
- Receive weekly individual supervision from Dr. Alanna Singer, Dr. Aranda Wingsiong, Dr. Tamara Meixner, Dr. Gibran Rodriguez or Dr. Christine Sloss
- Receive feedback from recorded sessions.
- Participate in weekly 2-hour DBT educational and consultation team meetings with a multi-disciplinary team.
- Participate in regular trainings that are offered by our clinic, including an extensive 32 hr training in providing DBT with adolescents and families.
- Receive informal consultation from many clinicians in the clinic.
- Participate in periodic team building and social events.
Hours: 16 hours per week.
Days: We require you to be present for a DBT consultation team meeting on Wednesdays from 12:00-2:30 and to do some evening work. The other hours/days are negotiable.
Length: We ask that you do a minimum of 10 months, as we primarily work with longer-term clients and want to give you more time to learn to provide DBT.
Perks: We offer on-site training, Wednesday lunches, and periodic team-building events. We are also willing to compensate one day of additional outside training on a topic relevant to your work at Broadview Psychology. We offer $100 per month (total of $1000) to support you with expenses that you might have related to the practicum.
Educational Training/Research Opportunities: Practicum students will have the opportunity to learn DBT and CBT, through supervision, observation, reviewing videotapes, and regular team training with internal and external psychologists. Additionally, Practicum students may assist in program evaluation, assessments and additional research projects. Broadview Psychology offers a 16-week training (32 hours), DBT with Adolescents and Families, training course each fall. This training would be a mandatory requirement for those wishing to complete their practicum at Broadview Psychology.
