Broadview Walks For Mental Health: Supporting the Sashbear Foundation

By: Max Smith

A few weeks ago, the Broadview team had the privilege of participating in a 5K walk organized in collaboration with a local software company. It was more than just a walk—it was an opportunity to come together as colleagues, friends, and community members to support a cause that affects so many: mental health.

We were proud to walk in support of The Sashbear Foundation, a Canadian charity that supports families impacted by emotional dysregulation, suicidality, and related mental health challenges. Sashbear is recognized for its commitment to training and empowering families with evidence-based skills that improve emotional resilience, strengthen relationships, and provide hope during difficult times.

Our team—clinicians, friends, family members, partners, and even our four-legged companions—laced up our sneakers and walked side by side. It was a powerful reminder of the strength that comes from community, shared purpose, and the importance of showing up for one another.

As we recognize Mental Health Awareness Month this June, we are reminded of how critical it is to speak openly about mental health. Events like this help reduce stigma, promote connection, and highlight the resources available for those in need.

At Broadview, we are committed to being active participants in the mental health community. Whether through clinical work, advocacy, or simply showing up to walk for a cause, we believe in standing together to support wellness and healing—for ourselves, for our clients, and for our wider community.
