We recognize that humans don’t live in a bubble. As such, we try to include family members in the treatment process so clients and family members can learn new coping and how to communicate effectively with each other.
Resilience
We focus on clients’ strengths and resources, and how these help them to cope with and adapt to stressful experiences. We help clients become more resilient when dealing with life’s challenges.
Prevention
We believe in early intervention and strive to provide support and skills training to children, parents, individuals and families, to prevent the development or worsening of mental health challenges.
Family and Community
We work with clients within their context, and whenever relevant, involve family members, partners, friends, teachers and community members.
Understanding
We aim to listen, understand and validate our clients and families.
Collaboration
We operate as a team within our clinic and participate in weekly formal individual and group consultation meetings. We work with other professionals within the community to provide coordinated, holistic and informed services.
Evidence-Based Practice
We use researched and empirically validated treatment approaches. We continue to expand our knowledge of treatments, such as DBT, CBT, CPT, EFT, PE and ACT, through consultation and continuing education.
Program Evaluation
We strive to provide effective services and engage in ongoing program evaluation that allows us to find strengths and weaknesses in our treatment programs so we can continuously improve our services. We are always open to feedback from clients and families about our service delivery.
Diversity
We seek to learn about our clients’ ethnic, cultural, familial, sexual, and gender identities and backgrounds so that we can be sensitive and respectful to each client of our clinic.
