Ph.D Practicum Student | TORONTO CLINIC
Justice Cupid (she/her) is currently completing her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology at Toronto Metropolitan University. Her research has focused on the critical role of safety for regulating anxiety, with emphasis on the importance of agency, emotional regulation, and social connection for meaningful experiences of safety. Her current research draws from liberation psychology to understand social, political, and cultural forces that impact individual and collective safety experiences and practices.
In therapy, Justice aims to integrate her training in Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) with decolonial, anti-racist, disability justice, and harm reduction frameworks for care and wellness. She is committed to understanding individuals’ psychological, emotional, and relational experiences within their social context. She works with clients to create and nurture an open, honest, and empathetic space to explore and make sense of their experiences with curiosity, non-judgement, and kindness. Justice is committed to collaborating with clients to identify their goals and build skills to move toward them in personally meaningful ways.
Prior to joining the Broadview Psychology team, Justice received clinical training in the Family Health Team at St. Michael’s Hospital and the Frederick W. Thompson Anxiety Disorders Centre at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre. She has worked with adults across a range of ages, from various social backgrounds, and with complex mental health concerns. Throughout her clinical training, Justice has provided assessment and therapy to individuals experiencing depression, anxiety, post-traumatic stress, obsessive-compulsive and related disorders, and borderline personality experiences, among other concerns including relationship challenges, grief, and life transitions.
