Anisa (she/her) is a doctoral student in the School and Child Clinical Psychology program at the University of Toronto (OISE), where she also received her master’s degree. Prior to that, she received her Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology (with honours) at the University of Ottawa. Her current doctoral research evaluates an academic learning skills and strategies program for post-secondary students with ADHD at UofT.
Anisa works with culturally, sexually, gender-, and neuro-diverse children, adolescents, young adults, and families presenting with a range of mental health difficulties. She has previously worked with clients with anxiety, depression, ADHD, selective mutism, OCD, learning difficulties, and parent-child conflict. Anisa is currently completing her advanced practicum with Broadview Psychology and draws on different therapeutic modalities in her work: Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy (CBT), and Emotion-Focused Family Therapy (EFFT).
Prior to joining Broadview Psychology, Anisa completed a school psychology practicum placement at the Toronto District School Board (TDSB) where she conducted comprehensive psychoeducational assessments for school-aged children. She completed her second practicum placement at the Family Psychology Centre, where she provided therapy to children, adolescents, and their families. Since then, she has worked as a therapist at The Feelings Place for children with selective mutism and has provided parent and school consultations to help children find their brave voice.
Anisa approaches her work with warmth, genuineness, compassion, and empathy. She aims to help clients discover their strengths and challenges through treatment that is tailored to their unique therapeutic goals. Anisa empowers clients to work towards a life that they can thrive in and feel good about.
Anisa provides clinical services in English. She is also at a beginner level in both Mandarin (speaking, understanding, reading, writing) and Farsi (understanding).
In her free time, Anisa enjoys exploring her city, crocheting, listening to music, and watching good TV shows.
