Psychology Resident, Ph.D Candidate
Rebecca West is in the final year of her Ph.D. in the Clinical and Counselling Psychology program at the University of Toronto – Ontario Institute for Studies in Education (OISE). She completed her Master’s-level education at the University of Western Ontario. She works with adults experiencing a variety of mental health concerns, using Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Prolonged Exposure Therapy and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy. Rebecca has received training in a range of contexts, including private practice, post-secondary, and hospitals. She has completed two clinical placements as a Ph.D. student, one at a private practice in Newmarket, ON, and another one at Ontario Shores Centre for Mental Health Sciences in Whitby, ON. Prior to this, she completed a placement at University of Western Ontario Psychological services.
Rebecca strives to work collaboratively with her clients and takes a sincere, empathic, nonjudgmental, and unconditionally positive approach to therapy. She employs an eclectic approach to help people explore and gain insight into their life challenges, and bring awareness to one’s thoughts, feelings, and behaviours. In her doctoral research, she is focusing on the experience of women who report sexual violence and its impact on their educational experience.
Outside of psychotherapy, Rebecca enjoys hiking, camping, yoga, reading, and spending quality time with friends and family.
