Laura Reznick, MSW
Registered Social Worker

Laura Reznick graduated with a Masters of Science in Social Work from Columbia University. She works with adults, adolescents, and families struggling with a variety of clinical concerns. Laura’s approach is person-centered and collaborative, making use of a variety of evidence-based treatments. She has training and experience in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), motivational interviewing, Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), and exposure therapy. She has a long-term interest in adapting DBT to anorexia and other eating disorders.

Laura uses a holistic approach that promotes each client’s strengths and self-determination. She believes in the importance of a strong therapeutic alliance that balances empathy and reciprocity with change- based strategies. She tailors treatment plans and interventions to suit client goals, and works collaboratively with her clients and their families when appropriate.

Prior to joining Broadview, Laura was an intern with the Dialectical Behavior Therapy Training Program at the Columbia University School of Social Work and interned at the DBT-adolescent unit at Four Winds Psychiatric Hospital. She has clinical experience treating both adults and adolescents with personality disorders, depression, anxiety, substance use disorders, psychosis, and eating disorders. Laura also has clinical experience in a college counseling centre, and has a continuing commitment to college students and their ability to manage the stresses and anxieties of academic life.

Before becoming a therapist, Laura was a doctoral candidate in English literature at the City University of New York Graduate Center. She holds a Masters of Fine Arts in Poetry from Hunter College, and taught literature and writing at a number of colleges in New York City. In her free time, she continues to be an avid reader, and enjoys spending time with her partner, daughter, and dog.
